GENERAL INFORMATION

HOUSING - All girls will reside in newly remodeled air-conditioned residence halls where the coaching staff will supervise all aspects of dorm life.  In addition each floor will have its own qualified adult counselor to give individual help when needed.  Each section has its own private bathroom facilities.  In order to guarantee roommates mail your enrollment forms together.  No guarantee of roommates after July 10, 2008.  Phone jacks in rooms or bring cell phone.

HEALTH AND INSURANCE - We ask each attending camper to be covered by his own personal or family accident and illness insurance.  Please list your personal or family insurance company on the application blank, along with other pertinent insurance information.  A photocopy of both sides of your insurance card is most helpful.  Campers who do not have personal or family insurance are responsible for their own insurance and must show proof of coverage to attend camp.  Several companies provide 1-week coverage policies.

CAMP REGULATIONS - Girls are not allowed to date, ride in cars, or be off campus unless with an organized and supervised camp group.  All visitors must secure permission through the main office.  Those bringing cars will be asked to check in keys.

ENROLLMENT & REGISTRATION
Midwest Fundamentals Camp:  July 20  |  1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Midwest Advanced Elite Camp:  July 20  |  1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Reservations must be made ahead of time in order to insure complete enrollment.  Deposits will not be returned unless notified in writing one month prior to camp for cancellation.

DEPARTURE TIMES
Midwest Fundamentals Camp will depart at 3:00 PM on Thursday following the 2:15 PM Awards Assembly (Gym).
Advanced Elite Camp will have their Awards at 1:45 P.M. at a designated gym and depart at 2:00 P.M.

MEALS - All meals are planned and prepared by the Chartwell Professional Food Service Co. and campers are provided with well balanced and nutritionally wholesome meals.  A policy of unlimited seconds prevails.  First meal for the Midwest Fundamentals and Midwest Advanced Elite Camp is supper on Sunday, June 17th at approximately 5:00 P.M.  Final meal for Fundamentals and Advanced Elite Camp is noon on Thursday.

FACILITIES - Air-Conditioned and newly remodeled residence and dining hall, snack bar, swimming facilities and excellent gymnasiums.  (10 volleyball courts available)

TRANSPORTATION - Campers who come by plane or bus will be met by staff members at the airport or depot.  It is the responsibility of the camper to notify the camp director of the exact time and mode of travel one week ahead of arrival time.  Call 785-823-7076.

AWARDS - Midwest Fundamentals Camp will be presented awards at the Awards Assembly at the KWU gym at 2:15 P.M. (Thur.).  Advanced Elite Camp awards will be at announced site for Olympic style acrylic medals with red/white/ blue drapes are awarded to league champions and all star selections.  League awards-best server, best setter, best spiker, best blocker, best digger plus tourney champions and fundamental skills awards will also be recognized with certificates.  MVP, Most Inspirational, and Best Hustler will also be recognized at league and camp levels.

WHAT TO BRING - All girls should plan to bring plenty of comfortable casual play clothes such as shorts, t-shirts, etc. For practice sessions be sure to bring plenty of practice shorts and socks. We will launder your camp t-shirt daily. Don't forget your volleyball shoes and knee pads, towels and wash cloths, personal toilet articles, two twin bed sheets, pillow and pillow cases, light blanket, bathing suit and spending money. Feel free to bring your own cell phone.  For obvious reasons, body and facial rings, etc. must be covered or removed.

CAMP COSTS
Midwestern Fundamentals and Advanced Elite Camp is $340. (Full-time Camper) - Day Camper - $200. (No Room - No Meals)

Cost of the above camp is $340.  A $100 deposit is mandatory for all girls.  (No refund on deposit unless we are notified in writing one month prior to the start of camp.)  A $40 cancellation fee is charged on all refunded deposits. Total camp costs must be paid on the registration day. Any camper who enrolls by March 25, 2008 will receive special EARLY BIRD ENROLLMENT GIFTS.

Early departures from camp due to illness or injury will be charged a $40 administrative fee and a letter of credit will be issued based on the number of days of camp remaining for future camps.  Letter of credit good only for family members.  NO CASH REFUNDS IF A CAMPER LEAVES PRIOR TO CAMP CONCLUSION.

FUNDAMENTALS Camp & Midwest Advanced Elite Camp NEW TEAM Discounts Available
Many teams will have a few players enrolled in ADVANCED ELITE CAMP with other players enrolled in the FUNDAMENTALS CAMP.  Five or more team members from one school will receive a $15.00 per camper discount.  Ten or more will receive a $20.00 per camper discount.  Fifteen or more receive a $25.00 per camper discount.  All team discount registrations must come in a single packet!!  All team discount participants will receive the "Early Bird bonus gifts".

FAMILY DISCOUNTS
HOA offers a $10 discount to all immediate family members when two or more family members attend the same camp.

ADVANCED ELITE CAMP INFORMATION

     The Advanced Elite Camp is for high school players.
     The elite camp will close after we receive 100 enrollments.  The Advanced Elite Camp will be directed by one of America's winningest college volleyball coaches, Coach Tracy Rietzke of Rockhurst College of Kansas City and the leading NCAA Division II winningest coach over the past 10 collegiate seasons.  The camp is run in conjunction with the fundamentals camp but has separate gym facilities and separate coaches.  The majority of coaches for this camp are college coaches.  The primary purpose is to teach the advanced techniques of volleyball to high potential performers.  Campers will be participating in a highly competitive level against players of equal or better abilities.
     The majority of camp time will constitute match play and GAME SITUATIONS.  The advanced campers will be housed in a separate section from the fundamentals camp unless requested otherwise.  Basic camp information is the same for both camps as it relates to cost, enrollment, and basic rules.

HEAD INSTRUCTOR (Midwest Fundamentals Camp Director)
Coach Sue Coffman
will direct the Midwest Fundamentals Volleyball Camp.  Sue, a camp veteran, has a tremendous volleyball background as a player and a coach.  Since her playing career at Washburn University, she has spend 22 years coaching at the high school level.  Sue's teams at Andover have won two 4-A State Championships, including 2004.  While at McCracken High she was a State Runner-up in 1982.
     Coach Coffman has been awarded:  2001-2002 Program of the Year K.V.A.; 2004-2005 Ark Valley Chisholm Trail Division 4 Coach of the Year; All Metro Coach of the Year; 4-A Coach of the Year and Wichita Sports Commission Female Coach of the Year.
     Coach Hoffman brings tremendous teaching ability and superior organizational skills and leadership to Heart of America Camps.

ADVANCED ELITE CAMP DIRECTOR
    
Coach Tracy Rietzke is the head women's volleyball coach at Rockhurst College in Kansas City, MO.  Coach Rietzke is one of the winningest coaches in America with an 825+ career record.  Coach Rietzke has been selected the Missouri Coach of the Year five times.  His Rockhurst squad has made eight national tournament appearances over the past 14 seasons.  He has been twice named AVCA Midwest Regional Coach of the Year.  In 1993 and 1994, he was named the Midwest Independent Coach of the Year in 1995 and 1996.  His 1997 team was 41-4 and third in the nation.
     Coach Rietzke is rated as one of the top collegiate volleyball coaches in America and will direct the HOA Advanced Girls Elite Volleyball Camp for the tenth consecutive summer.

Coach Rose Wittman is now the head volleyball coach at Sacred Heart High School.  Here team was the 2-A State Champion in 2004.
     Prior to becoming the Head Coach at Sacred Heart, she had a highly successful stint as head coach at Salina Central.
