GENERAL INFORMATION

HOUSING - All girls will reside in newly remodeled air-conditioned residence halls where the coaching staff will supervise all aspects of dorm life.  In addition each floor will have its own qualified adult counselor to give individual help when needed.  Each section has its own private bathroom facilities.  In order to guarantee roommates mail your enrollment forms together by May 25, 2008.  Phone jacks in room or bring cell phones.

HEALTH AND INSURANCE - We ask each attending camper to be covered by his own personal or family accident and illness insurance.  Please list your personal or family insurance company on the application blank, along with other pertinent insurance information.  Campers who do not have personal or family insurance are responsible for their own insurance and must show proof of coverage to attend camp.    Several companies provide 1-week coverage policies.

CAMP REGULATIONS - Girls are not allowed to date, ride in cars, or be off campus unless with an organized and supervised camp group.  All visitors must secure permission through the main office.  Those bringing cars will be asked to check in keys.

Reservations must be made ahead of time in order to insure complete enrollment.  Deposits will not be returned unless notified one month prior to camp in writing.  No refund for early departures!


DEPARTURE TIMES - 1st Session and 2nd Session - 3:00 PM on Thursday following the 2:15 PM Awards Assembly (Gym).  Advanced Elite Camp departs at 2:45 PM.

MEALS - All meals are planned and prepared by the Chartwell Professional Food Service Co. and campers are provided with well balanced and nutritionally wholesome meals.  A policy of unlimited seconds prevails.  First meal for the 1st & 2nd Sessions and Advanced Elite Camp is supper on Sunday.  Final meal for Fundamentals & Advanced Elite Camp is noon on Thursday.  Day campers can purchase meals on a per meal basis.

FACILITIES - Newly remodeled air conditioned residence, dining hall, and gym.  Swimming facilities, vending machines and "T" shirt shop available.

TRANSPORTATION - Campers who come by plane or bus will be met by staff members at the airport or depot.  It is the responsibility of the camper to notify the camp director of the exact time and mode of travel one week ahead of arrival time.  Call 785-823-7076.

AWARDS - 1st and 2nd Session Fundamental camp will be presented awards at the Awards Assembly at the KWU gym at 2:15 PM (Thur.)  Advanced Elite Camp will have awards as announced at 2:15 P.M.
     Contest awards will be made to all league champs, runner-ups, and all 1-1, 3-3, and fundamental contest winner and runner-ups at the Thursday afternoon Awards Assembly.  OLYMPIC style award medals will be awarded to All-Stars, MVP, Outstanding Defensive Player, Sky Dunk Champ, 1-1 Champ, Speed Shot Camp, Camp Champions, League Champs and Foul Shot Champ.

WHAT TO BRING - Everyone should plan to bring plenty of comfortable casual play clothes such as shorts, t-shirts, etc.  For practice sessions be sure to bring plenty of practice shorts and socks.  We will launder your camp t-shirt daily.  Don't forget your basketball shoes, towels and wash cloths, personal toilet articles, two twin bed sheets, pillow and pillow cases, light blanket, and bathing suit.  Vending machines are available, so it is advisable to bring spending money.  We are not responsible for lost articles.  Mark all your gear.  Bring your own cell phone for your room if you have one.  Phone jacks in each room.  For obvious reasons, body and facial rings, etc. must be covered or removed.

CAMP COSTS - 1st Session & 2nd Session and Advanced Camp is $340.  Day Camper (No room / no meals) - $200.

MIDWESTERN FUNDAMENTALS & ADVANCED ELITE CAMP COSTS.  Cost of the above Camps is $340.  A $100 deposit is mandatory for all girls.  No refund on deposit unless we are notified, in writing, four weeks prior to the start of the camp.  A $40 cancellation fee is charged for all refunded deposits.  Total camp costs must be paid on day of registration.  Any camper who enrolls by April 15, 2008 will receive EARLY BIRD ENROLLMENT GIFTS.  Make all checks payable to Heart of America Sports Camps/Clinics, Ltd.  All checks must include state drivers license I.D. number.  No refunds for early departures.  Part-time camper/day camper fee is $200 for all camps (No room - no meals).  Meals can be purchased on a meal to meal basis if desired.  Early departures from camp due to illness or injury will be charged a $40 administrative fee.  A letter of credit will be issued based on the number of camp days remaining for future camps.  Letter of credit good only for family members.  NO REFUNDS IF A CAMPER LEAVES PRIOR TO CAMP CONCLUSION BY HER OWN CHOICE.

NEW TEAM DISCOUNT INFORMATION
Five or more team members from one school will receive a $15.00 per camper discount.  Ten or more will receive a $20.00 discount.  Fifteen or more will receive a $25.00 per camper discount.  A team discount form with all team names must be mailed by the coach or responsible party.  We will not honor team discounts unless applications and deposits are mailed all in the same single packet to our office.  "Early Bird" gifts to each camper if packet is received by April 15, 2008.

FAMILY DISCOUNTS
HOA offers a $10 discount to all immediate family members when two or more attend the same HOA camp.  This is in addition to other discount programs (Biddy BB, YBA, YWCA, etc.) team discounts.

ADVANCED ELITE CAMP INFORMATION

The Advanced Elite Camp is for high school players who are on the top 8 on their high school team.  The camp will close after we receive 100 enrollments.  Additional eligible campers are any high potential player, all league, all city, all state.  The camp is run in conjunction with the fundamentals camp but has separate gym facilities and coaches.  The majority of the coaches are college experienced coaches.  The primary purpose is to teach the advanced techniques of basketball in an environment of high potential performers.  Campers will be participating against players of equal or better abilities.  Camp is open for college coaches to view.  Majority of camp time will be game competition.  Basic camp information is the same as the fundamentals camp as it relates to cost, enrollment, and basic rules.

STAFF - (Featuring America's Best Staff)

Ken Cochran, NAIA Hall of Fame Coach, is the founder and national director of the Heart of America Basketball Camps.  Formerly the coach at Marymount College, his overall mark of 285-56 in 11 seasons marks him as one of the "winningest" coaches in America.  He averaged 25 wins per season in his last 12 years of coaching.  He holds the national college record of 106 straight home court wins.  His teams played in 6 national tourneys in 10 years and won 3rd in the nation in 1976.  His Marymount teams were nationally ranked 10 straight years.  He developed six All Americans during his college coaching career.  His teams were noted for their great defensive pride, discipline and intensity.  His camps are recognized nationwide as the most enthusiastic, motivational and fun skill development camps in America.  He is also owner and inventor of Pop-A-Shot electronic basketball and Foul Shot Electronic Free Throw trainer.

Kevin Muff, the 2003 Jayhawk Juco Conference Coach of the Year, is in his ninth year as head coach at Cloud County Jr. College in Concordia, Kansas after a sensational five seasons at Wamego High School (KS), where his 1998 team was the Kansas Class 4A State Runner-up losing in overtime.  Kevin spent 3 years as an assistant coach at Pittsburg State and prior to that a 3 year stint with excellent teams at Atwood, KS high school.  Kevin was an All State player in both high school and also a two year All Jayhawk Jr. College performer at Cloud County JC and played his final two seasons at Kansas State University.  Coach Muff brings a wealth of experience to the HOA Basketball Camps. He is also the Advanced Camp Director.

On-Site Director - ALL CAMPS
Bob Murray enjoyed a highly successful high school coaching career at Bennington (KS) High School where he won over 70% of his games over a 19 year period.  After a sterling high school coaching career, Coach Murray joined the basketball coaching staff at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas where he coached for 9 years.  Coach Murray has been a league commissioner at the Heart of America Basketball Camps for the past 23 years and will be the on site camp director for all Heart of America Sports Camps this summer.  A highly enthusiastic and motivational coach who brings a wealth of basketball coaching expertise to HOA basketball camps. Coach Murray played for Coach Cochran from 1967-1970.

Remaining Staff Members - Additional outstanding coaches will be added after the conclusion of the state championships in Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma and Missouri State High School Championships.
